Since its founding in 1974 AGOTA has initiated or been involved in designing and implementing different activities and events to further the health of a woman and medical profession in Tanzania. AGOTA works with different partners in these activities as mentioned below
- Organizing a Twinning program with the Netherlands Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecology (NVOG)
- Awarding the Jill Everett award to the best undergraduate student in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Sponsoring members to attended International conferences, seminars and workshops such as FIGO congress and ECSACOG conferences.
- Organization of workshop and seminars such as Safe Motherhood and Newborn Health workshops, Emergency Obstetric care workshop, unsafe abortion and family planning workshops.
- To improve and maintain proper standards in the practice of obstetrics and gynaecology for the benefit of women and the public of Tanzania.
- To produce evidence-based guidelines for appropriate practice and procedures in collaboration with Ministry of Health.
- To work with other maternal health stakeholders and health care providers through trainings and mentorship in order to increase the standards of care in obstetrics and gynaecology
- To organise AGOTA Scientific Conferences and Annual General Meetings (AGM)
