About Us

AGOTA was formed in 1974 by 10 founding members and has since grown into a national professional association representing over 400 specialists who are in all zones within the country. Together, we work to strengthen clinical practice and advance safe, high-quality sexual and reproductive healthcare.

Mission

Mission To promote the attainment of the highest possible quality of sexual and reproductive health and rights of women, new-born, children and adolescents in Tanzania through education, research, advocacy, excellence and partnership.

Vision

Vision AGOTA believes that all Tanzanian women, new-born, children and adolescents should achieve the highest quality of care possible leading to optimal sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Governance

Governance AGOTA is guided by its Constitution and By Laws, ensuring transparent and effective management of the association. The Council, which is composed of 15 members, sets policies, oversees operations, and ensures AGOTA fulfills its mission.

The Council meets twice a year to review reports from regional branches, approve financial statements, and provide strategic direction.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) brings together all members and key officers, including the President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The AGM approves accounts, reviews branch activities, and elects officers and new Council members for the next two-year term, ensuring that AGOTA’s leadership remains accountable and representative of its members.
